Circuit Troubleshooting Methods

1. Observation method

The fault location can be quickly and accurately determined by observing the phenomenon of electrical faults. For example, observe whether the electrical device has sparks, abnormal sounds, smoke, etc.; observe whether the fuse is blown, whether the wire color is normal, etc. The location and cause of the fault can be preliminarily determined by the observation method.

2. Replacement method

When a component or assembly is suspected to be faulty, the replacement method can be used to check. Replace the suspected faulty component or assembly with a new component or assembly of the same model. If the circuit resumes normal operation after replacement, it can be determined that the original component or assembly is faulty.

3. Step-by-step queuing method

When multiple branches in a circuit are connected in parallel or in series, if one of the branches fails, the entire circuit will not work properly. In this case, each branch can be disconnected step by step, and each time a branch is disconnected, observe whether the circuit resumes normal operation. When the faulty branch is found, the components or assemblies in the branch are checked step by step.

4. Comparison method

Compare the faulty circuit with the normal circuit to determine the fault location. By comparing the voltage, current, resistance and other parameters of the two circuits, the cause of the fault can be found.

5. Debugging method

For some adjustable circuits, the cause of the fault can be found through debugging. For example, for some circuits that need to adjust components such as resistors and capacitors, the working state of the circuit can be observed by adjusting the parameters of these components to find out the cause of the fault.
